Rickey Smiley Biography
Smiley was born Broderick Dornell Smiley on August 10, 1968, in Birmingham, Alabama. Raised in a single-parent household with his mother and five siblings, Smiley went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Alabama State University.
In 1992, he gained recognition for his comedy talent when he appeared on the nationally syndicated talent show “Star Search.” Afterwards, he performed stand-up comedy at venues across the US, solidifying his status as a top comedian.
In 2000, Smiley launched his nationally syndicated morning radio show, “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” This highly popular urban morning show has earned numerous awards, including the NAB Marconi Radio Award for Syndicated Personality of the Year.
Smiley has also hosted multiple television programs, including the BET comedy series “Comic View” and the reality TV show “Rickey Smiley for Real.” He has made appearances in several films and TV shows, such as “Top Five,” “Friday After Next,” and “The Rickey Smiley Show.”
